The British Council Czech Republic is located in the main business quarter of Prague near the Vltava River. Information and exchange are important to this renowned international organisation that focusses on educational and cultural relations.
The client felt that the existing reception area did not provide an inviting space or offer visitor information in a clear way. They sought an innovative solution to transform the space inexpensively and in as short a period as possible.
The main focus of the design was to create a visually interesting and generous space that enhanced the architectural qualities of the existing building. The British Council colour red is used as base colour for the interior walls.
Information is located on glass, metal and fabric panels. By overlapping the panels in different planes a layered quality adds depth and interest to the space. Detailed attention was given to new interior lighting that complements the new design.
The result is a complete transformation that provides the British Council with a representative space that orientates and informs visitors about the organisation in an inviting and professional atmosphere.
