Incineration Line 6 is a self-confident but considerate, colourful yet unobtrusive landmark that engages in a harmonious dialogue with its historic and industrial surroundings.
Given the high visibility of Incinerator Line 6 on the Roskilde skyline, we chose to relate the design of its façade to the existing historic landmark Roskilde CathedralDrawing inspiration from the Cathedrals spires and warm brick material palette, Incinerator Line 6 adopts a sculptured appearance. The base of the incinerator reflects the angular factory roof profile of the immediate surroundings, culminating in a 100m tall spire.
The façade is comprised of sheets of anodised aluminium cladding resembling the colour raw umber. A random pattern is achieved through a combination of five panels of equal size. Each panel has two laser-cut circular openings of varying diameter based on the same grid.
