This housing complex is located near a small village outside of Budapest, a popular location where it is possible to combine a city lifestyle with the natural beauty of the peaceful, picturesque hillside setting.
The client’s objective was to reflect two seemingly contradictory ideals of city and landscape within a luxury housing development. The aim was to create harmony between the natural and the synthetic, the harsh and the luxurious, the modest and the bold, and the traditional and the contemporary.
With almost half of their volumes constructed into the hillside, the houses become an integral part of the landscape, provide natural shelter and privacy, and open the interior to views of the valley below. Internal courtyards visually and physically connect individual spaces and allow natural light into the entire house.
The generous layout of living spaces meets the requirements of demanding and varied lifestyles - with the functional and the rational meeting the lavish and the luxurious. In this way, the seemingly contradictory demands of the brief and the site have produced a design that achieves harmony between individual house, landscape and contemporary living.
